Graffiti at the protest by SA Jews for Free Palestine (SAJFP) and other anti- Israel activist groups included an inverted red triangle, a deeply threatening symbol widely recognised as having antisemitic intent. This symbol has become a rallying image for Hamas and its supporters globally.
During the Holocaust, the Nazis implemented a systematic classification system for prisoners in concentration camps, using color-coded inverted triangular badges sewn onto uniforms. This allowed SS guards to quickly identify the alleged "reason" for a prisoner's incarceration, facilitating control, abuse, and targeted extermination.
Hamas adopted this symbol in their propaganda videos released shortly after October 7, 2023. In their filmed video clips showing the murder and terrorising of Israelis in the South of Israel, Hamas used inverted red triangles, overlaid as digital arrows to highlight and "target" Israelis in the kibbutzim during attacks.
The symbol has since been used by pro-Hamas/anti-Israel groups as a symbol to mark "Zionist" or Israeli targets for boycott, doxxing or harassment.
To paint a symbol of hate and targeting of Jews outside a Holocaust Centre speaks volumes about the true nature of the real motives of these anti-Israel hate groups.
