SAJBD’s Response to Dirco’s statement on Ismael Haniyeh which exposes their hypocrisy The South African Jewish Board of Deputies notes the statement of the South African Government condemning the killing of arch-terrorist Ismael Haniyeh. The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation’s (Dirco) pro-Hamas bias has been evident since former Minister Pandor call to Haniyeh in the immediate aftermath of the Oct 7 atrocities. The depiction of Haniyeh in Dirco's statement i

(SAJBD) is outraged by the killing of Halima Hoosen-Preston
The South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) is outraged by the killing of Halima Hoosen-Preston and the attacks on her family members. This is a tragic event and our hearts and prayers go out to the affected family. We ask that this matter be investigated thoroughly by the judicial system, and that the investigations and legal processes be allowed to take their course. In this highly charged environment, we call for calm from all communities so that justice can prevail

The SAJBD has become aware of the publication of a children’s colouring book, titled “From the River to the Sea", by Digniti, and supported by “Social Bandit” and “Penny Appeal South Africa.” It is repugnant that this publication, promoting the obliteration of Jews from our historical and rightful homeland-Israel, can be published, and targeted at young-minds. We reject attempts to indoctrinate children. While we are saddened by the ongoing conflict, campaigns like this only

Ramaphosa’s use of slogan ‘From the River to the Sea’ is a call for genocide.
The SA Jewish Board of Deputies expresses its revulsion at the introduction of a call to exterminate Jews from their Homeland by President Ramaphosa at the ANC final Siyaquoba election rally on Saturday. The President of the ruling ANC party and the Head of State of a democratic country has called for the elimination of the only Jewish State in the culmination of the ANC President’s election speech made to thousands of ANC members and on National television. SAJBD Response to ICJ Ruling 24 May
Every loss of life in the conflict between Israel and Hamas is tragic. Over the past seven months of this heartbreaking war, it has become increasingly obvious that peace needs to be made through political negotiations and not legal institutions. This is especially when the ICJ has no jurisdiction over the brutal terror organisation Hamas. South Africa could have done so much more to prevent loss of life from the outset, by using its relationship with Hamas and its history of

SA Jewry to protest Minister Naledi Pandor’s call for activism on University campuses
SA Jewry to protest Minister Naledi Pandor’s call for activism on University campuses Let’s be clear: Minister Naledi Pandor’s call for “intensified university activism against Israel” is in reality a call for South African students to emulate the global campaign of incitement against Jewish students. Indeed, the campus `activism’ that she idolises, and is desperate to import to South Africa, has resulted in Jewish students across campuses being violently attacked, verbally a

Iran's attack on Israel: statement
On Saturday night Iran launched hundreds of missiles against civilian and religious targets in a grotesque act of war against Israel. In an unprecedented act of solidarity, Arab states, the USA, Britain and France stood up against this attack on the Jewish state, and the attack failed to achieve its aim of death and destruction on all who live in Israel. We note that a young Bedouin girl was injured in the attack and our thoughts and prayers are with her. South Africa’s Minis
